Voice of an Angel

Physical beauty is sure to fade, but a truly beautiful sprit is hard to blemish. We have long been accustomed to living in a world where beauty is primarily judged by outward attractiveness. So no one was expecting to witness beauty when they saw Susan Boyle’s appearance in Britain’s Got Talent when she sang “I Dream a Dream”. Before she sang, both the audience and the judges appeared to express skepticism based on her unpolished appearance and awkwardness. In contrast, her vocal performance was so stunning, she received a standing ovation from the live audience, garnering yes-votes from Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden, and the "biggest yes I have ever given anybody," from Piers Morgan. Her talent is unbelievable and it truly is wakeup call to an appearance-obsessed society.

Susan Boyle was born on April 1, 1961. According to the Chinese Zodiac, her primary personality traits are ruled by the elemental animal sign of Metal Ox. That makes Susan someone who can persevere on a path towards her goals regardless of the difficult obstacles placed in her way. Although she tends to be very independent and self-reliant herself, she nevertheless volunteers frequently to shoulder the burdens of those around her.

Combining Metal with Ox yields one determined person, and one of the strongest signs of the zodiac. She can be like Atlas and carry the weight of the world on those strong Ox shoulders, or she can be the bulldozer that knocks down every obstacle. She is probably not always diplomatic, and could have more than her share of personality conflicts. On the positive side, her tenacity and sense of responsibility is unmatched.

The viral videos of her television audition, subsequent interviews, and her rendition of Cry Me a River recorded for charity in 1999 have been viewed or listened to over 100 million times on the Internet.

What is so special about this newly famous lady lies in her naturalness and her confidence in her singing. People love her for being who she is and adore her for being such a role model in pursuing our dreams against the odds. Cowell is reported to be setting up a contract with Boyle and his company label, Syco Music, a subsidiary of Sony Music. Chinese Astrology hopes that her dream of becoming a professional singer will at last be fulfilled.

Johnny Depp Post-Pirates

Johnny Depp is perhaps one of the most versatile Hollywood actors of his generation whose portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow in the acclaimed Pirates of the Caribbean represents only a small portion of his range.

Born June 9, 1963, Depp’s primary personality traits are ruled by the Chinese Zodiac elemental animal sign, the Water Rabbit. The Rabbit is usually somewhat detached. At times the world can seem too harsh and intimidating for Depp. Though highly successful now, Depp spent his early life as a rebel, and was linked to vandalism and narcotics. He dropped out of school when he was 15, and fronted a series of garage bands, including The Kids.

However, the Water Rabbit shows great sensitivity and constantly promotes harmony. As for Depp, he is kind and generous, almost to a fault, and it is easy to take advantage of his generosity. He tends to be friendly and easygoing, a joy to be around. It wouldn't be surprising if he were drawn to other artistic pursuits beyond acting, either as an active participant, or as a connoisseur.

Although he has gained popularity ever since his starring role in the successful Edward Scissorhands, Depp’s international fame did not peak until his portrayal of the suave, charming Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean. The film's enormous success has opened several doors for his career, including an Oscar nomination. For 2009, he a number of filming plans in the works, including The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Public Enemies, Shantaram, and The Rum Diary. Chinese Astrology hopes these movies will boost his career to even greater heights.
